Things You Can Do To Support Our Teachers …

Our Republican lawmakers in Frankfort just pulled off a bait-and-switch tactic to gut teacher and state worker benefits! State policies that leave new hires without secure retirement options were tucked away in a wastewater management bill that lawmakers passed within hours of it coming out of committee. There was no actuarial review, as required by law.

This week legislators will vote on the state budget, which will designate funding sources for the pension system and other state services. Here are three things you can do to demand fair and adequate sources of funding for pensions and other state programs.

  1. Join thousands of Kentuckians in a march on the Capitol building in Frankfort at 8 a.m on Monday, April 2. Click here to learn more.
  2. Call 1-800 372-7181 to leave a message for your representatives.
  3. Click here to find your legislators, then send them an email or text.

Vote against the sewer bill and all others pertaining to education. We are not selfish. We want what is right for education. I taught for 29 years and loved whst I did. I was a single parent and hung paper at night to raise 3 boys. I still love and communicate with former students.

Please stand strong for the rights of education funding and our pensions. Teachers will continue to fight along with all other supporters.
